Due to slight mixture with cobalt it becomes blue.It is called 'neelam' in hindi.  It is found in Kashmir-India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Australia, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Tanzania, Kenya, and the United States.

  • A pure and good quality blue sapphire is slippery to touch, has blue-ish color like a peacock, is transparent and has a natural glow and shine. 
  • When immersed in cows milk, a genuine blue sapphire gem shall make the milk appear bluish in color.. 
  • When immersed in a glass of water, it shall appear to emit bluish rays in the water.
  • When kept in sunlight, blue rays of light appear to come from the gem.

  • The blue sapphire is the fastest acting gemstone and shows its effects within 24 hours. It is capable of positive and very strong negative effects.   • Blue Sapphire should be worn on a Saturday, at sunset in the hora of saturn, under the pushya, chitra, swati, dhani or shatbhisha nakshatras. 
  • It should be set up in a ring made of gold, iron or (panch dhatu) mixed five metals.
  • It should be energised with the recitation of shani beej mantra,  " Om Praan Priin Praun sae: Shanaye Nameh. " 23000 times. 
  • The gemstone should be of  5, 7, 9 or 12 rattis.
  • One should donate black urad, salt, mustard oil, soap, tea leaves, money (Dakshina) according to one's capacity at the feet of peepal tree and pray for well being. Male buffalo should be fed with green leaves and cotton seed and Shivalinga should be bathed with milk.
